چکیده

INTRODUCTION Cognitive informatics (CI) is an emerging discipline that studies the natural intelligence and internal information processing mechanisms of the brain, as well as the processes involved in perception and cognition (Chan, Kinsner, Wang, & Miller, 2004; Kinsner, Zhang, Wang, & Tsai, 2005; Patel, Patel, & Wang, 2003; Wang, 2002a, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007; Wang & Wang, 2006; Wang, Johnston, & Smith, 2002; Wang, Patel, & Patel, 2006; Yao, Shi., Wang, & Kinsner, 2006). CI is a new transdisciplinary field of research that investigates into the most common problems of how the brain processes information shared by almost all science and engineering disciplines and its engineering applications. The theoretical framework of CI has been presented in Wang (2007) with comprehensive surveys on the latest advances in CI, as well as a rich set of theoretical foundations and mathematical means for CI. This editorial presents the theme of this issue of IJCINI on cognitive mechanisms of autonomic computing and laws of human cooperative work organization. In the remainder of this article, the cognitive mechanisms of autonomic computing and machine cognition are explored. The structure of IJCINI Vol.1, No.2 is presented, and the latest development reported in the six papers published in this issue is highlighted. ABSTRACT

Exploring Gene Signatures in Different Molecular Subtypes of Gastric Cancer (MSS/ TP53+, MSS/TP53-): A Network-based and Machine Learning Approach

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the leading causes of cancer mortality, worldwide. Molecular understanding of GC’s different subtypes is still dismal and it is necessary to develop new subtype-specific diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Therefore developing comprehensive research in this area is demanding to have a deeper insight into molecular processes, underlying these subtypes. In this st...

A Comparison of Autonomic Decision Making Techniques

Autonomic computing systems are capable of adapting their behavior and resources thousands of times a second to automatically decide the best way to accomplish a given goal despite changing environmental conditions and demands. Different decision mechanisms are considered in the literature, but in the vast majority of the cases a single technique is applied to a given instance of the problem. T...
